“Fall in Love with the Process”

Trevor Arnold has always been an athlete at heart.

Growing up in Wakefield, NH, he played nearly every sport you could think of, baseball, soccer, track, and more. But by 7th grade, one game took over: basketball. It wasn’t just the thrill of winning or the feeling of the ball in his hands, it was the discipline of showing up for practice, the rhythm of the game, and the way it pushed him to give his best.

Weightlifting, though, was different.

He dabbled in it during high school, but never fully committed. It was something he did in between seasons, not the main focus. That changed in his senior year in 2020, right as the world shut down.

“When COVID hit, I suddenly had nothing but time,” Trevor says. “I could either waste it or use it. If I wanted to feel better about myself, physically and mentally, I had to start showing up.”

The first weeks weren’t glamorous. There were no big PRs, no massive physical changes, no instant rewards. Just Trevor, a few weights, and a promise to himself. Every workout was logged. Every meal was tracked. Every small decision, from what he ate to whether he’d skip a session, became a test of discipline.

At first, it felt like work. But after a while, something shifted. Trevor didn’t just do the workouts, he started to crave them. He fell in love with the process.

He wasn’t chasing a quick fix or a single goal anymore. He was chasing the feeling:

    •    The mental clarity after a hard lift.

    •    The rush of pride walking out of the gym knowing he’d done the work.

    •    The quiet satisfaction of grinding through a brutal “down the rack” shoulder finisher until his arms were on fire, but not stopping.

“To me, ‘Prove it. It works.’ means anything you want is within your grasp,” he says. “You just have to prove it to yourself by not giving up.”

Now, years later, that mindset hasn’t faded. Whether it’s incline pressing on the smith machine, playing basketball with friends, or pushing himself through high-intensity accessory work, Trevor still attacks training with the same hunger he discovered in 2020.

Working out has become more than a physical pursuit, it’s his anchor. It keeps his mind clear, his confidence steady, and his days structured. The gym is where he sharpens not just his body, but his discipline and resilience.

BEFORE & AFTER

He’s learned that the most important progress doesn’t happen in front of a crowd or on a scoreboard, it happens in the quiet, unglamorous moments. The early mornings when no one’s watching. The sessions where you’re tired, sore, and tempted to skip, but go anyway.

“Everyone sees the after pictures, but the real change happens in the middle,” he says. “In the days you want to skip, but don’t. That’s where the person you want to be is built.”

When he’s not lifting, Trevor enjoys gaming with friends, the same competitive spirit, just in a different arena. But no matter what he’s doing, he carries the same mindset: there’s always a new level to reach, always a next goal, always a reason to keep proving it.
